Car Wash Pit Cleaning in Florida

Car Wash Pit Cleaning in Florida

Cleaning Car Wash Catch Basins in the Sunshine State

Between trips to the beaches or nature preserves, city driving and turbulent storms, Florida drivers have plenty of reasons to get regular car washes.

And all of those cars have a mix of sand, dirt, debris or gunk that gets cleaned off at local car washes. Once Florida residents get squeaky clean vehicles they drive off, but all of the waste is left at your car wash—specifically in your catch basins or pits.

If your car wash pits are left alone to collect car wash waste for too long, they become backed up. With inefficient car wash equipment and chemical spillover into the local ecosystems, backed-up car wash pits are a hazard to your business and the surrounding environment.

Pit Crew offers affordable and FAST car wash pit cleanings in Florida. Our team can work around your schedule so you don’t have to worry about shutting down for cleaning, whether it’s a one-off service or a routine visit.

Prevent your car wash from becoming a clogged mess and keep your business up and running for the local community.

Car Wash Wastewater Regulations in Florida

**For any legal guidance on how to keep your car wash in compliance with local and state regulations, talk to your lawyer.

Florida’s Department of Environmental Protection outlines what car wash businesses must abide by for their car wash systems.

For instance, best management practices (BMPs) are implemented to minimize run-off. Other regulations include but are not limited to:

  • A car wash discharges into a system that is capable of treating both wastewater and runoff with debris or byproducts being prevented from leaving the retention area.
  • Water contained in tanks, pumps and piping are disposed of at a Department-permitted wastewater treatment facility or a pre-treatment facility connected to a Department-permitted wastewater treatment facility.
  • All facilities that provide wax, add drying agents or other additives, or have water softening equipment need a total recycle system that recycles both wash water and rinse water, with no discharge of wastewater to the waters of the state.
  • The car wash recycle system needs to be designed and operated to prevent discharge to groundwater and surface water except as described below.
    • An oil/water separator needs to be installed.
    • A chlorination system needs to be installed if the facility is creating an objectionable odor.
  • Recycling equipment, such as sedimentation tanks, filtration units, and pumps, needs adequate capacity to handle maximum hourly flows based on expected usage and the size of the facility.

If your car wash doesn’t abide by Florida’s wastewater regulations, you risk running into legal and financial troubles. And your financial issues could be worse if your car wash is inefficient or closed due to clogged car wash pits—an easy way to fail wastewater regulations or lose customers.

Keeping your car wash pits cleaned out is vital to your business’s productivity both for regulatory reasons and for your customers.
