Pit Crew and the Chesterfield Food Bank
Pit Crew believes in community involvement. Pit Crew believes in the importance of strong families. This passion and love for others is what caused the founders and owners of Pit Crew to use proceeds from Pit Crew to create the Chesterfield Food Bank.
Where did this passion come from? When Travis and Karie Whittle were first married, they were barely making ends meet with their first child. Karie went to Social Services for help, but was denied the assistance they needed. Both of the Whittles worked full-time minimum wage jobs, and even though it was not enough to pay the basics, it was still considered too high to qualify for help.
Over the years, the Whittles overcame their challenges by working hard and staying constant. They have always remembered their humble beginnings. So as Pit Crew grew and they finally began making a profit, they always remembered how hard it was to work so hard and still be turned down for help.
So, in 2010 Travis and Karie decided to give back a large portion of their business profits to young couples, single parents and the elderly who had been turned away from conventional forms of government assistance. Today they continue to give back, through growing partnerships with private citizens, business owners, civic leaders, churches and their local government by offering FREE food along with FREE education to those families and individuals that in the past had nowhere to turn.
That’s how the Chesterfield Food Bank was born! Over the past 7 years, the Chesterfield Food Bank has distributed over 1 million meals to over 150,000 families. Pit crew will always be passionate in helping others and giving back to our community.
