How Long Does It Take to Clean a Car Wash Pit?

How Long Does It Take to Clean a Car Wash Pit?

Just like in racing, speed is important for car wash pit cleaning. The less time spent cleaning out your wash bays, the more time customers can spend using them.

A single pit could be clean in just a few minutes when cleared out by experienced professionals.

The key to efficient pit cleaning is bringing in the right equipment. A Pit Crew truck is fully stocked with the vacuum hoses needed to drain your sludge and dirty water quickly.

Our team will pull up to your car wash location and immediately get to work. First, your pit cleaning crew attaches the suction hose to the truck and then they work to open up the car wash pit.

In a self-service car wash the pit will often just be under a grate in the middle of the bay. In large automatic operations, the waste will likely be accessible through a manhole beside the building.

Once the pit has been located, two crew members work together to suction out the solid and liquid waste. Pit Crew sends two people to your car wash in order to ensure that stubborn sludge is loosened up and effectively removed.

The more often you have your pits cleaned, the less time each cleaning will take. If the mud has built up over time and become thicker, the cleaning could take longer.

Our vacuum system makes pit cleaning much quicker and more efficient than using a shoveling or bagging method.

Most car washes take 3 to 4 minutes, meaning you could fit upwards of 15 car washes into one hour. If multiple hours are spent shoveling out a pit, then that is all potential profit lost.

If there is more than one pit, crews will be able to easily move to the next pit without having to redo all of the setup.

Once your entire facility is cleaned up, Pit Crew’s team packs up the hose and secures it to the truck before driving away.

The sludge is taken to our processing facility in Virginia.

Then in a few months when your waste has built up again, Pit Crew can come back and get the job done just as quickly as before.

Lets work together to keep your car wash business clean and operational. Our crews can come to your locations across the East Coast, South and Midwest. Give us a call and Pit Crew can start clearing out your pits.
